Started my Fastlane Journey!!!

I have read Fastlane & am now halfway through Unscripted.
I have been a slow lane entrepreneur for many years now, having started multiple do what you love businesses. Before the corona fun I played music 2-3 nights a week making $150 a night as a do what you love venture. I became very picky about not wanting to play in certain bars, not liking playing with certain others, & it really started taking a toll on my love for music. I also train dogs out of my home so that I can be home for...

Hi, name's Simeon and I'll be documenting my goals, failures and successes in this thread.

I come from a lower class family in Bulgaria where money has always been about survival.

I was born with a dairy allergy and had my first introduction to willpower at the age of 4. Web 3.0 (Ethereum) is happening, and most people have no idea what it even is.

Blockchain technology has been around since 2009. When most people think about blockchains, they think about bitcoin, a slow, expensive antiquated technology that is hard to scale, and is not innovating. Every now and again you will hear about bitcoin reaching new all time highs, yet nothing has really changed with the technology in years.

How to know if a business idea / product is possible?

I was thinking about business ideas and realized that in order for a new innovative technology to really supply needs in this time it has to be great. This is what led me in to thinking what do I do if I have random products or idea that I don't know if it is good or not and before I do anything else I want to test them so I can see if they could even exist.

For Example:
Elon Musk was talking in an interview about neural ink and was getting asked about some futuristic type...

Health Insurance Options when leaving employer

Hello all,

In Q1-Q2 in 2021 I will be quitting my W2 job. I am planning for worst-case scenarios for health insurance costs. If I keep my employer's insurance, it will be around $450.
  • Is there any cheaper options or am I better off keeping it? I have savings for high deductibles, I just want insurance for catastrophe (accident, cancer, etc.).
  • Should I expect the costs to be around $400 dollars a month or in your experience any cheaper options?
  • Any recommendations on how to...

Ecom Youtube Challenge - Building a channel with 120 videos in 120 days

Ok I've been planning this challenge for the last 3 weeks and I'm finally doing it. @Fox pointed me in the right direction with a course on Youtube SEO and now I'm taking the dive.

Here's a summary of it before I get into the details:
  • Post a piece of content every single day for 120 days (in my case a Youtube video)
  • Help as many people as much as possible and don't hold back on the value
  • Answer every single comment/question
  • Systemize this as much as...

Ebook Scaling - second edition and audiobook

Hi,

I have a bit of a problem with finding the right path of how to deal with the second edition of an ebook.

I mean in a way it is like with any product, bring it to the open field, test it, get responses, adapt, improve, repeat. I would like to go second edition with my ebook and then bring it into an audiobook. However, the platforms themselves are a hurdle for going on. Personally, I think that the audiobook is better suitable for my target audience (young adults) and sales would...

I'm starting! Told all my friends and family

Hey everyone,

Super excited, I'm actually starting. I just turned 20, four days ago, and joined Rob's FoxWebSchool. I read The Millionaire Fastlane about a year ago, and have been fantasizing about becoming an entrepreneur ever since, but had no idea where to start. So I'm starting with Rob's course, to gain experience and momentum. As a lot of you might already know from here, that program is about using webdesign as a stepping stone into entrepreneurship.

Dropped out of high school at 16...

As someone from down south where saving power is impacted by the always regressive politics and economics, I've always managed my way to keep on the mov. I've done maaany things in order to achieve my goals, but I always get stucked in a midle point. I created my own businesses (events, merchandising, IT), I got graduated in Finances, I studied coding, I worked for small companies and multinationals. This year I've...

Hi!

I'm hosting a 2-hour, online summit in just over a month for communications professionals in the not-for-profit sector (like myself). These summits will aim to plug a gap in our training and development as this tends to drop off for us. My aim with the summits is to generate a list of interested and engaged professionals in my sector with the goal to extract mass problems from them via surveys and the summit that I can solve.

The first summit will focus on Google Ads, which is a...

Launching digital attendance software during COVID-19?

I recently listened to an interview by one of the CEO's of a company called EduSign.

EduSign is a SaaS that makes 'attendance sheets' management simple online.

The CEO is about 19 years old and the company is generating $27.8k per month with over 300 users.

I'm fascinated by a number of opportunities opening up as a result of the pandemic. One of the industries I thought would be heavily impacted is Education. However there haven't seem...

Book recommendation: How I built this by Guy Raz

I'm sure you all know of the podcast How I Built this, where Guy interviews some of the biggest founders in modern history. It's one of my favourite podcasts, hearing about the journey people have taken to get to where they are now.

He has now put his learnings of his interviews in a book (surprised he hasn't done this earlier to be honest), it's really well written and easy to read. I found myself finishing it in 4 days which is a near record for me.

Can't Trademark

Hi Guys,

I have a domain name and website which apparently according a trademark expert is too generic to protect.

Now i honestly don't care about registering a trademark, I'm more concerned with a competitor registered the trademark and then tried to sue me for my website or something.

Just wondering could this occur? Or am i being too paranoid.

Also since i can't seem to get a trademark is there any other protections i could implement?

Cheers!

Has anybody had this issue (sleep related)

Every morning when I awake, I almost feel completely paralyzed for a period of time before I can physically get out of bed and start my day. This morning was one of the longer ones, maybe 60 minutes. I'm not actually asleep at this time, and I can still toss and turn and adjust my covers, but my body getting out of bed is out of the question. Late to the party

Hi all,

I've been a slowlaner following the script for almost 40 years. I've worked hard and achieved a lot but never quite reached financial freedom.

I've tried corpo, smaller companies, even bootstrapped startups, hoping to find... something. And it ticked many of my boxes. It was fulfilling, exciting, demanding and taught me a lot. I've met many great people, lived on several continents, been to places and done things many probably only think of from the comfort of their homes.

Something that cannot be stressed enough on the Fastlane forum is that people would be better off pursuing businesses in UNSEXY industries. Industries that FEW people are talking about because they are boring, unpopular, or possibly even unlikely to be discussed among the general public, and etc..

Desert of Desertion

8 years ago, I decided to give entrepreneurship my everything.

And it worked out: 3 years ago I finally chose one business model (web design), and made around 15K total from that.

However, it's really not that much after all, not nearly as much for the sacrifices that I made:

For the past 8 years, I've stopped meeting new people, going to the gym, forgot about my hobbies... all just to have the time and focus for business.

If you think your college diploma is no longer worth it, do this

Alot has changed since my Ask me about Ecommerce AMA from 2012, so I thought I'd do an updated AMA as some of the answers in the previous thread are now outdated. The online marketplace has shifted greatly in the past couple years. Some examples of what has changed:
